haven has
hosted hunters from
all over the United States, and they never cease to be amazed
at the abundance and number of birds we see floating on our potholes
and scurrying over the rolling hills here on The Bison Ranch.
We are located in -the most exclusive and beautiful part of the
Missouri Coteau, where the density of prairie potholes per square
mile is higher than anywhere in the country--and thus, this is
where the birds are!
Besides great waterfowl
hunting
and upland
game hunting,
we offer whitetail
deer hunts,
bison
hunts, and
some small game hunts (coyote hunts are most popular).
Our hunts take place on our private land: thousands of acres
of private virgin rolling prairie and CRP (Conservation Reserve
Program land) that is teeming with every kind of duck imaginable,
in additon to the big Canada geese, Snows, and Speckleberries
Geese.
We are located
between two national wildlife refuges that are just as well known
for breeding ducks as they are as dancing grounds for sharptail
grouse--and our upland game hunting is world class. Not only
sharp tail grouse, but also ring-neck pheasant, sandhill cranes,
and Mourning Doves flourish here.
And our whitetail deer population has become our crowning glory
in recent years. Bow hunters especially love the opportunity
to hunt the mammoth-sized females we have gracing our property,
and every so often, a hunter is lucky enough to draw a tag for
the big bucks that inhabit the area. Whitetail hunitng doesn't
get much better than this!

great coyote hunting each winter--our hills are teeming with
them. |

For the
birds--and bison
At Coteau
Ridge, the waterfowl, upland game and deer hunting seasons last
from September through November. Bison hunting is offered September
through April, but bison hides are most lustrous between mid-November
through the end of February.
While The Bison Ranch is known as a premier destination for waterfowl
and upland game hunting, many of our clients come here for combo hunts, hunting buffalo in
co mbination with waterfowl, upland game birds and small game.
