It's in the Central Flyway, in the heart of the Prairie Potholes, where the density of wetlands per square mile is among the highest in the world!

It is 25 miles northwest of Jamestown, which is 100 miles west of Fargo, and 100 miles east of Bismarck. Coteau Ridge is 9 miles southwest of Pingree, North Dakota on 71st Ave SE.

Driving directions to
The Bison Ranch

from Jamestown, ND:

Travel north through Jamestown on Highway 281North. When you come to a village (13 miles north of Jamestown characterized by a big cement Hereford bull sitting alongside the road!) called Buchanan (don't blink your eyes or you will miss it!), set your odometer.

Now continue on Highway 281 North for another 3.5 miles until you come to 21st Street (a gravel road). There is a little turquoise storage shed in the west ditch that marks the turn! Travel west on 21st street for six miles. Look for a north-south road and street sign indicating you are on 71st Avenue. It is a gravel road also! Turn left (south) on 71st Avenue and travel south for one mile, the road is pine-lined and will curve west right into the place!

--11 miles east of
Chase Lake National Wildlife Refuge, home of the largest nesting pelican colony in North America.

--Close to Jim Lake, offering great fishing and ice fishing.

--Area of state known for great

--In the midst of the Coteau region of North Dakota, which is a prime waterfowl nesting region of North America. The eighteen counties of North Dakota which make up the Coteau contain over one million temporary, seasonal, and semi-permanent wetlands that cover over 1.3 million acres. The average density of these three classes of wetlands is nearly 42 per square mile. These numerous wetlands coupled with adequate cover attract millions of nesting waterfowl and shore birds each year.
